Problem

A Solar company that looks as good online as it does in person.

The ideal customer for this client is a “homeowner in Oahu, Hawaii who wants to transition to sustainable energy”.

The Solution

Competitive Analysis

Competitors differentiate themselves.

Eco Solar Hawaii currently only uses images and text on its website. By performing a competitive analysis on the Top 4 Big Competitive websites, we found common themes like:

  • Big hero image of a solar-powered house
  • Large taglines
  • CTA buttons
  • Videos
  • Testimonials
  • “How to get started”

User Interviews

Users view Solar Companies as too “Salesy” and feel overwhelmed.

To gather data, we interviewed previous clients and ran an analysis on the Yelp review page. This allowed us to highlight common themes in each of the buyer personas.

Insights

Educating customers on why Solar Energy is important.

Based on the trend in our research, our team could deduce the main features users are looking for.

  • Need more information about the turnaround time
  • Educate users on why solar energy is important
  • Differentiate from competitors (Why choose Eco Solar Hawaii?)

Conclusion & Lessons Learned

Applications for future projects.

This was one of the clients at the Marketing Agency. Throughout my time at this job, I learned many skills that can be helpful for future projects:

  1. Design Systems. It is important to have a Design System that helps the engineers bring the design to life. Not providing them with the right information can extend the time of the project. Thus, understanding their perspective on the project is crucial.
  2. Client’s Needs vs. Wants. Communication is key to finding out what the client wants and needs. In this case, I could apply my knowledge from the 2022 Ad World Conference. Taking what I learned from the conference and lining it up with their business proposed value makes it possible to create a sustainable strategy.
